Welcome to my profile collection of cars in bas-relief.
These cars are sculpted entirely by hand and are cast of
solid resin composites. They are 15 to 16 inches in
length (approx. 1:10 scale) and vary around 1 ½” in
depth, or relief. Each rough casting is carefully
shaped and detailed by hand before the first of several
primer coats is applied with each successive coat being
block sanded before the next.
The cars’ finish is achieved by fine sanding between each
of three coats of lacquer paint and then hand polished
to a high luster.
The tires and wheels are formed of solid composite
castings and the inlaid spokes are assembled with real
stainless wire.
As every car is built on spec as a private commission, the
collector may choose between either of the mounting
methods shown. The yellow 250 LM is mounted on a one
piece solid walnut backboard with the Ferrari lettering
routed out in ¼” raised relief. The shadow box wood
frame mounting behind the 250 GTO measures 22 x 12 x 2
and can be assembled with a felt wool lining in a color
of your choosing.
The brass engraved plaques on these samples state the
car’s model and year of production, but they may be
custom ordered to include your name, your car’s serial
number and any other information you wish to add to
personalize your art piece.
You may also order a car as a free form art piece and
attach it to a display mounting of your own design.
Although the pricing of these profile cars will vary
depending on the method of mounting, type of wheels,
engraving and color, as a general rule, a car that has
been sculpted at least once will be priced in the range
of $800 to $950. One offs (which we welcome) and cars
with custom wheels will naturally cost somewhat more to
produce.
Although I do seem to concentrate most of my efforts on
the Ferrari marque, I like lots of other makes too, and
in time the profile collection will expand to include
many of the worlds great and most beautiful sports and
racing cars.
